About The Workshop
This fun and informative workshop is presented under the auspices of the University of The Third Age, and will give players of all abilities the realisation that they can already double-tongue!
Exploring further the relationship between language and articulation, Michael will guide participants through a series of simple exercises demonstrating that double-tonguing is a part of every-day speech, which we already frequently employ. These exercises help develop better synchronisation between tongue and fingers and show how to build up stamina. Historical musical examples will be employed putting the practice into context.
Michael Piraner, member of Polyphonica Recorder Trio, is an experienced performer and teacher having played as soloist and in ensembles in Australia, the USA, UK, Holland, France and Germany. He has a special interest in the topic of articulation and it's relationship to language and rhetoric and is delighted to welcome members of the U3A and their friends, members of The Society of Recorder Players and others who may be keen to develop an expressive playing style.
